Mission Beach

We spent the weekend in Chillagoe (cue western guitar twang and rolling tumbleweeds) and we only know it isn't a one horse town because we counted three in the paddock next to our campsite at the 'eco-lodge' which we figured stands for eco-nomy, not eco-logical. It had an observatory so we spent Saturday night star gazing, a first for us all.Awesome! Saturday was the hottest winters day of my life - over 30 we are sure...almost too hot to move, but we mosied down some red dirt roads to a swimming hole, and despite the trepidation re crocs we all had a splashingly good time!
Sunday we headed back to Cairns for two nights. Our stint on Daydream Is had whetted, not satisfied our longing for the reef and so yesterday we hopped on a boat (we had to choose from about 800 companies first)and headed to check out the GBR. Fantastic day overall, but as my internet time is almost gone, I will just say that the winds were 30 knots, and leave you to guess at what sort of boat ride we experienced....!
Tonight we are in Mission Beach - our first cabin night in a while...the sea is rough and rain threatens! xxxx

  1. You guys sound like you are having the time of your lifes. You will certainly be glad to missing out on some winter weather here. Will be a shock to come back to, especially after 30 degrees (too hot for me too Sue). Paul is officially unemployed, I have completed the first half of my diploma (if I pass the exams) and the boys are doing well at school. Just wanted to let you know we are following along on your travels (and still very envious). Good to hear you are surviving the trip and each other! Enjoy every moment.

  2. Hi this is Mum Nana Val - working from Wendy's as I don't seem to do much on ours, but always good to hear your news, the good times just keep on rollin' it would seem - we are well and keeping warm, the almost full time occupation these days! Watched the All Whites (in black) last night, they will get a wonderful 'welcome home' when they do arrive. three draws, if only they could have managed one goal last night, but hey haven't they done well. Thank you for the CD. Really enjoyed it. well will see if this gets off the ground, luvya all, and looking forward to seeing you all soon.

  3. Hey Maureen! Good luck on the exams ...sure you will go well...especially since Paul can now do everything else and you can concentrate on swot! If only it were that easy! Thanks for sticking with us...we are almost into our final phase and have to keep reminding ourselves that two weeks is actually a pretty decent holiday all by itself! x

Nice work, Mum, good to see a message on the same morning it was written. Yes, I think we are in for a bit of a shock with the cold, huh? Keep warm, Love to all xxxx
